This creature is the culmination of many sketches exploring concepts uniting the biological and mechanical-- the aim was something akin to visionary sci-fi/fantasy art such as the work of Roger Dean or Arik Roper. It was developed during a very dark time in my life, marked by grief and medical misadventure, and I'm glad that this work could come out of it. I let myself be lost in it and indulged working very slowly, to the benefit of all of the details and the careful execution of the sky patterns." - Saprophial
